John 1:11

SCRIPTURE

"He came unto his own, and they that were his own received him not." — John 1:11 (ASV)

In the phrase “he came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him,” the former “own” (neuter in Greek) refers to things; and the phrase may mean “his own property” or “his home” . The latter “own” (masculine in Greek) refers to “his own people,” the nation he belonged to. Jesus came to the place he had created and had a right to possess. Those who inhabited it turned him away in rejection.
