"Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from the Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?" — John 10:32 (ASV)

Jesus’ question challenged the people’s action on the ground that he had performed only helpful deeds. They should take stock of what he had done, and then they would see that stoning was incongruous with his actions.
