"(Now Jesus was not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met him.)" — John 11:30 (ASV)

Martha told Mary that Jesus was asking for her. To Mary, this was equivalent to a command to come. Her subsequent actions, though less assertive, reveal a trust in Jesus similar to Martha’s. Jesus was waiting for her outside the town.
