Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary John 11:8

"The disciples say unto him, Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?" — John 11:8 (ASV)

His proposal to the disciples that they should return to Judea was not welcomed with enthusiasm. They remembered the previous conflicts with the rulers and feared for Jesus’ life, and possibly for their own as well.
