"The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Behold how ye prevail nothing: lo, the world is gone after him." — John 12:19 (ASV)

The convergence of the pilgrims from a distance with Jesus’ enthusiastic supporters from Jerusalem made a popular following that caused the rulers to become apprehensive. They felt that their attempts to stop Jesus were too few and too late.
