Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary John 12:21

"these therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus." — John 12:21 (ASV)

Just why these Greeks approached Philip rather than one of the other disciples is not stated. Philip in turn referred them to Andrew, and both of them carried the request to Jesus himself.
