Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary John 4:47

"When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought [him] that he would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death." — John 4:47 (ASV)

The report that Jesus had healed people in Jerusalem must have reached this man’s ears. Learning that Jesus had returned to Galilee, the official immediately sought Jesus out and strongly pleaded with him to heal his son, who was dangerously ill.
