"But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh even until now, and I work." — John 5:17 (ASV)

Jesus’ argument for healing on the Sabbath was that God does not suspend his activities on the Sabbath. The laws of nature take no holiday. But more important to the Jews, Jesus identified his activities with those of the Father; he claimed to be continuing the creative work of God.
