SCRIPTURE
"and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man." — John 5:27 (ASV)
The title “Son of Man” has appeared twice previously in this gospel (1:51; 3:14). As the Son of Man Jesus is qualified to judge humanity because he belongs to it and can understand the needs and viewpoints of humans (cf. Hebrews 2:17).
