Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary John 7:35

"The Jews therefore said among themselves, Whither will this man go that we shall not find him? will he go unto the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?" — John 7:35 (ASV)

Jesus’ reply to the action gave a hint of his coming death. The declaration that he would go where he could neither be followed nor found excited the curiosity of the crowd. They surmised that he expected to leave Palestine and to minister among the Dispersion and the Gentiles.
