"The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also led astray?" — John 7:47 (ASV)

The Pharisees were irate when the guards returned without Jesus. Their question implied a negative answer: “No one of the Pharisees has believed in him, has he?” And their other statements reveal their religious snobbishness. They assumed that nobody could be right except themselves. If they did not believe in Jesus, he must be unreliable and his claims must be fraudulent.
