"Jesus therefore saith unto them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready." — John 7:6 (ASV)

Jesus’ reply strongly resembles the one he gave his mother at the wedding in Cana of Galilee (2:4). He did not live by the chance of casual opportunity but by a divine calendar predetermined by the Father. For this reason the world did not understand his action, and the difference in standards created both misunderstanding and hostility.
