"But because I say the truth, ye believe me not." — John 8:45 (ASV)
“Truth” (GK 237) is an abstract that is difficult for people to know and appreciate (cf. 18:38). Jesus told the Jews that because they were children of their father, they didn’t know what truth was. They were living in a world of lies, distortion, and falseness.
