Jude 1:24

SCRIPTURE

"Now unto him that is able to guard you from stumbling, and to set you before the presence of his glory without blemish in exceeding joy," — Jude 1:24 (ASV)

Jude’s message of warning and doom may have depressed and discouraged his readers. Beset by so much false teaching and immorality, how can Christians ever reach heaven? The answer lies only in the power of God. So this doxology, surely one of the greatest in the NT, reminds us of God’s ability to bring every one of his own safely to himself. God “is able to keep [us] from falling” (or “stumbling”; GK 720). Furthermore, he is able “to present [us] before his glorious presence without fault [GK 320, used of Christ as a faultless lamb in 1 Peter 1:19; see comment].” “With great joy” is the response of Christians for their completed salvation.
