"And blessed [is] she that believed; for there shall be a fulfilment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord." — Luke 1:45 (ASV)

“Blessed” (GK 3421) describes the happy situation of those whom God favors. Elizabeth gave the blessing Zechariah’s muteness prevented him from giving (see vv.68–74). In her blessing Elizabeth called attention to Mary’s faith and God’s faithfulness.
