"To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear," — Luke 1:74 (ASV)

The fulfillment of God’s promise does not mean passivity for Israel but a new opportunity for service—negatively, service “without fear” (v.74) and, positively, “in holiness and righteousness” (v.75; cf. Malachi 3:3).
