"for I say unto you, that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not." — Luke 10:24 (ASV)

Jesus congratulates the disciples privately on participating in this revelation. The woes that Jesus pronounced earlier on those whose pride will be broken (vv.13–15) are balanced by the blessings of those granted salvation (cf. 1:52–55; 6:20–26).
