Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary Luke 10:28

"And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live." — Luke 10:28 (ASV)

Jesus affirms that the man has answered correctly. This does not mean that the inquirer has grasped the full meaning of the law, nor does it endorse the idea held by many Pharisees that by keeping the law a person can earn eternal life.
