Luke 11:33

SCRIPTURE

"No man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light." — Luke 11:33 (ASV)

Hearing Jesus’ message lays a responsibility on the hearer. The metaphors of light, signs, and judgment (cf. vv.29–32) are akin to what we have in John (e.g., 3:19–21; 9:39–41) and elsewhere in the NT (e.g., Acts 26:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14–15; Ephesians 5:5–14).
