"And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:" — Luke 12:11 (ASV)
The foregoing series of warnings and encouragements concludes with this striking contrast to the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Far from committing that sin of speaking against him, believers find that the Spirit speaks through them (cf. Matthew 10:19–20). The circumstance in which the Spirit speaks through believers is not preaching but persecution; in that context preparation of an adequate defense is hardly possible.
