"And he went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and journeying on unto Jerusalem." — Luke 13:22 (ASV)

Jesus’ teaching now turns to personal responsibility. Luke first reminds us that Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem (see comments on (9:51–19:44; 19:28). Like the question on divorce (Matthew 19:3), this one about whether few or many people will be saved (v.23) was occasioned by differing opinions among the rabbis.
