"And it came to pass, as they were on their way to Jerusalem, that he was passing along the borders of Samaria and Galilee." — Luke 17:11 (ASV)
Though we do not know exactly where this miracle occurred, what Luke does consider important is Jesus’ progress toward Jerusalem. The “village” lies somewhere in the border territory between Galilee and Samaria; so Jewish and Samaritan lepers share their common misery at its edge. The lepers maintain their proper distance, calling out to Jesus and asking only for pity without specifying any request.
