"And they answering say unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body [is], thither will the eagles also be gathered together." — Luke 17:37 (ASV)

The Pharisees had asked “When?” (v.20); the disciples asked “Where?” For us Jesus’ reply is somewhat obscure. The hovering “vultures” may symbolize judgment on the spiritually dead. Also they may merely represent the place of carnage.
