"And he said, All these things have I observed from my youth up." — Luke 18:21 (ASV)

Jesus now addresses this standard of righteousness. The first step is a summary of several of the Ten Commandments, omitting the first few that relate to God and the final one about covetousness. The man, like Paul , has kept the letter of the law.
