Luke 2:40

SCRIPTURE

"And the child grew, and waxed strong, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him." — Luke 2:40 (ASV)

Luke takes another opportunity to mention the fidelity of Jesus’ parents to the Jewish law. He omits mention of the flight to Egypt (an event important to Matthew because it provided him with another example of fulfilled prophecy). What is significant is that Jesus’ parents were faithful to the Jewish law and that the child grew normally, the object of God’s grace (v.40; cf. v.52).
