"And when he rose up from his prayer, he came unto the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow," — Luke 22:45 (ASV)
Luke does not dwell on the weakness of the disciples, nor does he describe in further detail Jesus’ agony. He does explain the disciples’ sleep as coming through exhaustion from sorrow. Jesus repeats the injunction for the disciples to pray lest they fall into temptation (see comment on Mt 26:41).
