"And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow this day thou shalt deny me thrice." — Luke 22:61 (ASV)

In telling how the Lord looked at Peter (v.61), Luke uses the same word John used to describe the way Jesus looked at Peter when they first met. It was a look of love and concern. Peter’s feelings (v.62) need no further comment.
