Luke 23:37

SCRIPTURE

"and saying, If thou art the King of the Jews, save thyself." — Luke 23:37 (ASV)

The taunts continue, this time from the soldiers. Although in the other gospels the offering of wine vinegar (v.36) seems to be an act of kindness (the drink being a thirst quencher carried by soldiers), Luke connects it with their mockery of Christ. It may have been a compassionate act done in the midst of taunts.
