"And they rehearsed the things [that happened] in the way, and how he was known of them in the breaking of the bread." — Luke 24:35 (ASV)
The words “at once” continue the chronology of the resurrection day (cf. v.13). The reunion with the Eleven brought assurance to all, as the two disciples fulfilled their role as witnesses (vv.34–35). They especially spoke of recognizing Jesus when he broke bread with them (v.35).
