"And straightway, when they were come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John." — Mark 1:29 (ASV)
The eyewitness details of the next story suggest its origin with Peter, who, after all, had a special interest in what occurred. After Jesus left the synagogue, he went to the house of Simon and Andrew, where Peter’s mother-in-law lay in bed with a fever. Jesus’ healing of her is described simply, yet with interesting detail: “He went to her, took her hand and helped her up.” The cure was instantaneous and complete, for she got out of bed and began to serve the needs of her guests.
