"And John was clothed with camel`s hair, and [had] a leathern girdle about his loins, and did eat locusts and wild honey." — Mark 1:6 (ASV)
John is described as a typical “holy man” of the Near East. His clothing was woven of camel’s hair and held in place by “a leather belt around his waist” (cf. 2 Kings 1:8). His food consisted of locusts (cf. Leviticus 11:21–22) and wild honey.
