"And when it was evening he cometh with the twelve." — Mark 14:17 (ASV)
Jesus and his disciples had probably spent the day in Bethany. In the evening they returned to Jerusalem. Peter and John, after making preparations, had likely returned to Bethany, a distance of only a couple of miles, and then accompanied Jesus when he went into the city in the evening. Jesus and his disciples went to the room prepared by Peter and John. Since the Jewish day began at sundown, it was now Thursday night, the fifteenth of Nisan.
