"And he said unto them, [It is] one of the twelve, he that dippeth with me in the dish." — Mark 14:20 (ASV)
Jesus had already given two clues as to the identity of the betrayer: he was the one of the Twelve and he was eating with them. Now Jesus gave a third clue: the betrayer was the “one who dips bread in the bowl with me” (i.e., dipping a piece of unleavened bread in the Passover sauce). This clue did not specifically reveal the betrayer but emphasized again that it was one who enjoyed the closest relationship with Jesus.
