Mark 14:41

SCRIPTURE

"And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough; the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners." — Mark 14:41 (ASV)

A third time Jesus left them to pray (cf. Matthew 26:44) and on returning again found the disciples asleep. Once again Jesus expressed his hurt through a question. The next word (GK 600) is difficult to translate. NIV renders it “Enough!” apparently meaning “enough of sleep,” i.e., it was time for the disciples to wake up. It can also mean “the account is closed” (i.e., the end has come) or “it is settled” (i.e., it was now clear to Jesus that it was God’s will for him to go to the cross). Both of these are supported by Jesus’ next statement, that the time of his betrayal and death had come. The “sinners” into whose hands the Son of Man was to be betrayed were the satanic agents who were to bring about his death.
