"And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" — Mark 4:41 (ASV)
A feeling of awe came over the disciples as a result of Jesus’ mighty act. Something about him was revealed to them on this occasion that they had not experience before. Their rhetorical question implied the answer, “He is the strong Son of God.” It is not difficult to imagine what effect this story had on the members of the persecuted Roman church Mark wrote his gospel for. It assured them that the strong Son of God would go with them into the storm of opposition and trial.
