Mark 5:27

SCRIPTURE

"having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment." — Mark 5:27 (ASV)

The woman’s hearing about Jesus’ healings and her belief that he could help her led her to come to him. She possibly also shared the superstition, common in her day, that the power of a person was transmitted to his clothing (see comment on Lk 8:42–46). So she went into the crowd and, because of her ceremonial uncleanness, approached Jesus surreptitiously from the rear. The moment she touched him, her faith was rewarded. The bleeding stopped, and she felt a soundness in her body that assured her that she had been healed.
