Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary
"And straightway Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power [proceeding] from him had gone forth, turned him about in the crowd, and said, Who touched my garments?" — Mark 5:30 (ASV)
Jesus too was aware that something had happened to him. Healing energy had gone out of him for someone’s benefit, and he insisted on knowing who it was. To his disciples his question seemed stupid in view of the crush of the crowd all about him. The harsh reply of the disciples may have been caused by their concern to get Jesus to Jairus’s daughter where a real emergency existed. But Jesus’ spiritual sensitivity told him that someone had touched his clothes; he wanted to find her, not to rebuke her but to make personal contact with her. She needed to know that it was her faith, not her superstitious belief, that had caused God to heal her.
