"And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague." — Mark 5:34 (ASV)
The woman, though “trembling with fear,” came forward, prostrated herself before Jesus, and told him everything. This must have taken great courage, especially since she was regarded as ceremonially unclean (Leviticus 15:19– 30). Jesus made clear to her that it was her faith that had healed her (the word “healed” [GK 5392] has both physical healing and theological salvation in mind; cf. 2:1–12).
The phrase “Go in peace” is a traditional Jewish formula of leave-taking (Heb. shalom; GK 8934; cf. Jdg 18:6; 1 Samuel 1:17). The woman was complete, being now in a right relationship with God (cf. Romans 5:1).
