"And they kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the rising again from the dead should mean." — Mark 9:10 (ASV)

The disciples obeyed Jesus’ injunction. But they were puzzled by his statement about the resurrection of the Son of Man. As Jews they were familiar with the idea of a general resurrection of the dead (cf. Daniel 12:1–3). But this special resurrection of the Son of Man baffled them, as their discussion of it showed.
