Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary Mark 9:14

"And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them." — Mark 9:14 (ASV)

This last exorcism story in Mark’s gospel occurred when Jesus, Peter, James, and John rejoined the other disciples after the experience of the Transfiguration. The disciples were engaged in a debate with the teachers of the law who were monitoring the teaching and preaching of Jesus.
