Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary Matthew 12:22

"Then was brought unto him one possessed with a demon, blind and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the dumb man spake and saw." — Matthew 12:22 (ASV)

The demon possession was the likely cause of this man’s blindness and muteness . The healing itself is told with admirable brevity, for it is not so much the miracle itself that is captures the attention of Matthew but the confrontation with the Pharisees that follows.
