Matthew 13:24

SCRIPTURE

"Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man that sowed good seed in his field:" — Matthew 13:24 (ASV)

Jesus “told them” (i.e., the people, not the disciples; cf. vv.34, 36) another parable. The kingdom of heaven “is like” the situation of “a man who sowed good seed in his field.” The Greek tense used here implies that the kingdom has become like the situation of this man. What Jesus argues is both that the kingdom has come (12:28) and that the Parousia is still delayed.
