Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary Matthew 13:50

"and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth." — Matthew 13:50 (ASV)

Jesus interprets the previous parable. Both the parable and its interpretation point to the Last Judgment (cf. vv.41–42). The focus here is on the state of the kingdom when the Judgment occurs. Though it includes both the righteous and the wicked, a thorough sorting out will certainly take place.
