"And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence." — Matthew 13:53 (ASV)

Once again, this section of Matthew closes with a typical formula . Jesus’ movement from Capernaum to “his hometown” (vv.53–54) turns out to be a further fulfillment of vv.14–15: these people will be ever hearing but never understanding.
