"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds." — Matthew 16:27 (ASV)
Not only Jesus’ example, but the judgment he will exercise is an incentive to take up one’s cross and follow him. The Son of Man (see comment on Mk 8:31) will come “in his Father’s glory”—the same glory God his Father enjoys (cf. Matthew 26:64)—along with his angels. At that time he will reward each person “according to what he has done” (cf. Psalms 62:12).
