"But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, unto the mountain where Jesus had appointed them." — Matthew 28:16 (ASV)

The Eleven do what Jesus says and go to Galilee, to a specific mountain “where Jesus had told them to go.” This verse presupposes the arrangements implicit in 26:32; 28:7, 10. Associating the Great Commission (vv.18–20) with Galilee not only has nuances with Jesus’ humble background and the theme of Gentile mission (see comment on v.10) but also suggests the continuation of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee.
