"All the saints salute you, especially they that are of Caesar`s household." — Philippians 4:22 (ASV)
“All the saints” refers to members of the church at Rome, from where Paul is writing. He also extends special greetings from “those who belong to Caesar’s household.” This expression denotes those engaged in imperial service, whether as slaves or freedmen, in Rome or elsewhere. Among them may have been some of the palace guard (1:13). The expression could refer to persons of considerable importance on the emperor’s staff. Paul does not say why they were singled out for special mention. Perhaps some of these government servants had come from Philippi or had once been stationed at that Roman colony.
