"for the showing, [I say], of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus." — Romans 3:26 (ASV)

Now the bearing of the cross on God’s dealings with the human race “at the present time” is unfolded. It amounts to a declaration that God is at once just in himself and justifying in his activity on behalf of humankind.
