SCRIPTURE

"whereas our comely [parts] have no need: but God tempered the body together, giving more abundant honor to that [part] which lacked;" — 1 Corinthians 12:24 (ASV)

But God hath tempered the body together. He again repeats what he stated once before (1 Corinthians 12:18), but now more explicitly: God has appointed this symmetry for the advantage of the whole body, because it cannot otherwise be sustained. For why is it that all the members are of their own accord concerned for the honor of a less comely member and agree together to conceal its shame? God has implanted this inclination in them, because without this adjustment, a schism in the body would quickly break out. Thus, it appears that the body is not merely shattered and the order of nature perverted, but the authority of God is openly disregarded whenever anyone assumes more than belongs to them.
