"Wherefore let him that speaketh in a tongue pray that he may interpret." — 1 Corinthians 14:13 (ASV)

Wherefore let him that speaketh in another tongue This is an anticipation, offered in reply to a question that might very readily be put to him. “If anyone, therefore, is able to speak a foreign language, will the gift be useless? Why should that be withheld, which might be brought to light for the glory of God?” He shows the remedy. “Let him,” he says, “ask God for the gift of interpretation also. If he lacks this, let him meanwhile abstain from ostentation.”
